When you start something new, whether its a business, a coaching session, or a club, for me it’s so important to understand WHY you are to doing it.
At Giant Leap Sports we are still a relatively new company within the school sport setting. Therefore the information below provides an insight into what we do on a day to day basis. Allowing you to get to know what we stand for, how we work and who we work with.
Why Giant Leap Sports?
Our sport, volleyball, needed a kickstart forward. I still feel we are behind lot of sports in schools, which takes away opportunities for children to try a new sport. From our experience, we know volleyball is a sport that children enjoy if they are provided an opportunity to play the sport. Our name came from trying to take a Giant Leap forward with the sport of volleyball in Northern Ireland.
Why Volleyball in Schools?
Volleyball is completely different to the mainstream sports that are typically offered in schools. It is a fast-paced, indoor sport that improves hand eye coordination. The main reason we feel it fits well for schools is that all the kids typically start as complete beginners, meaning that all kids get to compete and enjoy the sport on similar levels. This enables a fun environment in which everything is new, allowing us to enhance the learning opportunities and to facilitate the growth of each and every participant within the sessions.
Why Wolves?
We started Belfast Wolves as a junior volleyball club to provide the children we coach in schools with an opportunity to continue playing volleyball in a club environment. Due to the success of the club, we have expanded to include senior teams for both men and women. We have therefore been able to create a fun, inclusive, and competitive environment for players of all skill levels.
Why do we Coach?
We are passionate about developing the sport of volleyball within our country. The talented athletes are there and if we can get the structure right, the sport can flourish. By developing partnerships with schools we can plant the seeds to grow and develop. By continuing to develop our club we can provide further opportunities for volleyball players. That is what Giant Leap Sports is all about. This is WHY.
